Scapa Baltic is a producer of a wide range of upholstery furniture ranging from more non standard ranges to supplying products for IKEA.
The challenge: like most manufacturers at the moment, they are facing labour shortages, especially in the frame assembly operations, where the worker is specialised and has to be quick, attentive to details and know how to operate a staple gun. Additionally, automation is a challenge for them as the wide range of different products and dimensions requires a flexible solution.
The solution: RoboFrame – a robotic frame assembly system where an industrial KUKA robot can take over the stapling operations allowing the worker to focus only on placing the parts in to the jigs
Key features include:
The result: The system reduced dependence on specialized labour, allowing operators without prior stapling experience to work efficiently. The robot maintains a constant production pace equal to the output of the best stapler, ensuring stable quality and higher productivity.
Overall, the solution improved process reliability, simplified training, and increased daily output while maintaining the flexibility required for small-batch manufacturing.
