Automated Frame Parts Production with RoboMill at Home Group

Home Group is an international upholstered furniture manufacturer with production facilities in Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine. With a team of around 2,000 employees, the company produces approximately 800 truckloads of finished furniture every month.

The challenge:
Due to the ongoing war, Home Group’s factory in Ukraine has faced serious workforce shortages, as many employees have been called to defend their country. At the same time, the extensive product variety makes standard automation solutions impractical. The company needed a flexible system capable of handling many product types while maintaining consistent quality and efficiency.

The solution:
RoboMill – a robotic system developed and optimised for the pre-assembly of frame parts, capable of automating drilling and T-Nut riveting operations.

Key features include:

  • Centralised production: all operations are integrated into one station, reducing internal logistics time and improving workflow efficiency.

  • User-friendly operation: a no-code software interface enables operators to input part parameters manually or upload data directly from CAD software — no robotics or programming knowledge required.

  • Automated T-Nut riveting: integrated machines handle different rivet sizes (M6, M8), ensuring precise placement and eliminating human error.

  • Consistent quality: precise robotic operation guarantees repeatable, high-quality results across all part types.

  • Flexible gripper system: an automatic gripper change station allows efficient handling of parts of varying shapes and dimensions.

  • Small-batch capability: designed to handle high-mix, low-volume production without lengthy changeovers.

  • Autonomous operation: once the orders are loaded, the worker fills the racks with blanks, allowing the robot to operate autonomously until all orders are complete.

  • Continuous production: the rack feeding system ensures a steady supply of materials for uninterrupted operation.

The result:
The RoboMill system enables automated frame parts production that significantly improves both efficiency and product quality without requiring additional personnel. Capable of processing thousands of different part types and dimensions, it provides the flexibility and reliability essential for modern, high-mix furniture manufacturing.
